Fans get a new look at the world of Wonder Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and even it knows how close audiences have come to being over superheroes.
The new trailer for Wonder Man was posted to the official Marvel Studios X (formerly Twitter) page, showcasing a more intimate side of the series to come. Rather than focusing on the titular hero himself, the trailer showcases an interview with the fictional filmmaker Von Kovak, who opens up about why he is so set on making a Wonder Man series in a world filled with literal superheroes.
The original Wonder Man of Marvel Comics, Simon Williams, was introduced in the pages of 1964's Avengers #9 by Stan Lee and Don Heck. The brother of Eric Williams, better known as the Grim Reaper, Simon's family business was effectively ruined by his sibling's villainous antics, leading him to strike a deal with none other than Baron Zemo. In exchange for immense power of his own, Simon agreed to infiltrate the Avengers on Zemo's behalf. While this ruse was short-lived, Simon's career as Wonder Man was just beginning. In the decades since, Wonder Man has been at the heart of numerous major comic book storylines, although his presence in the modern Marvel Universe is certainly far less than what it was in his heyday.
The upcoming Wonder Man streaming series was created by Destin Daniel Cretton and showrunner Andrew Guest, and is set to introduce Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams. Abdul-Mateen's iteration of the character will follow in the original's footsteps of being an actor turned hero, with the MCU's Simon Williams set to take on his iconic mantle when he auditions for the lead of an in-universe television series of the same name. Wonder Man will also star Ed Harris as Simon's agent Neal, Demetirus Grosse as Eric Williams, aka the Grim Reaper, Arian Moayed as Damage Control agent P. Cleary, and Ben Kingsley in a reprisal of his role as Trevor Slattery.
Wonder Man Will Take On A New Tone

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige discussed the shift in tone that Wonder Man will offer compared to more typical MCU productions, as well as the studio's efforts to continue trying "new storylines and taking characters to new places. Sometimes they'll hit, sometimes they won't, but if you stop trying, that is when you atrophy, and the whole thing falls in on itself." Feige stated at the time, "We have a show coming up that we've talked very little about called Wonder Man, that I won't talk much about today either except to say it's extremely different than anything we've done before. It's very exciting to still be able to do new things."
Wonder Man is currently slated to arrive on Disney+ in January 2026.
