The following article contains spoilers for Fantastic Four/Gargoyles #1, out next week from Marvel Comics.

As soon as word got out that Marvel's Fantastic Four would be doing a crossover with the characters from the acclaimed animated series, fans were naturally wondering HOW the crossover would take place. Would it be a Multiversal situation where they crossed dimensions to see each other, or would it be a case where the Fantastic Four and the Gargoyles characters shared a world (like how the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were adapted into living within the world of Naruto in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X Naruto crossover). Well, in this CBR exclusive preview of next week's Fantastic Four/Gargoyles #1, we learn how, and it involved altering the history of the Gargoyles characters in a big way!

Fantastic Four/Gargoyles #1 is from writer Greg Weisman (the creator of the Gargoyles), artist Enid Balám, colorist Raúl Angulo, and letterer Joe Caramagna, and it allows the iconic creator, Weisman, to really delve into how integrating the Gargoyles characters into the Marvel Universe helps changed a lot of their lore.

In the preview pages, we see that Weisman has added new aspects to Demona's history. Weisman has delved into a good deal of Demona's history, including what helped turn her against humanity, making her one of the Gargoyles' greatest enemies. Most of her history took place in the 11th century in Scotland, but here, we see that Weisman has adapted her story to include a journey to Spain so that he can tie her in with Diablo, one of the Fantastic Four's oldest enemies. Diablo is obsessed with immortality, so naturally he is quite interested in the Gargoyles. Demona saves her adopted daughter, Angelika, but the action then cuts to the present day.

Here, we see the Fantastic Four meet the Gargoyles, and introduce themselves to each other.

How Demona's altered history changes the Gargoyles in the present, though, is something you'll need to pick up a copy of Fantastic Four/Gargoyles #1 next week to find out.
